Food Processor with attitude!
I bought this a couple of weeks ago – it’s been in daily use since, a great, compact food processor which does not use up a large footprint on my limited worktop space. I just wish I could find a mini grinder/mill attachment as I’d really like to be able to prepare fresh herbs etc for freezing as well as grinding coffee beans for my daily ‘fix’! Pastry, batter, scones, biscuits, cakes, marinades, minced/ground meat – the list goes on – I have to admit that it’s made me more interested in preparing good, fresh, tasty food. The metal blade does a good job on chopping up herbs in quantity, I’ve not tried it on coffee beans as I’m a bit worried that I might blow the motor; maybe someone can settle my mind on that one. Overall, I’d rate this machine 100% on current usage and 95% on unknown quantity as I’m sure that with time, I’ll get to know its limitations…. I bought this from Amazon Direct and it was delivered within 24 hours – just ace…..
The missing link.
There is little one can say about food processors nowadays. They have been around such a long time that the functionality is well worked out and pretty standard across the board.
The motor is fairly quiet – not silent but quieter than my last one although it does give off that new motor smell that hopefully will disappear with time. The last thing you need when cooking is the smell of burning lubricant – it totally ruins the mood.
However one which I would like to point out which I think is just brilliant is the knife unit at the bottom of the blender twists off. This is brilliant for cleaning and the one thing that drove me crazy about my last one. Excellent!
Nice food processor
I bought this to replace a Kenwood food processor we were given 20 years ago as a wedding present and has done good service. This new machine is nicely styled and easy to use and has the bonus of doubling as a liquidiser. I would have given it 5 stars apart from a couple of points:
Firstly, the mixing bowl does not feel as good a quality plastic as I would have hoped. It feels quite brittle and I fear that one drop on he floor and it would just break. Lets hope I don’t put that to the test. Secondly, it doesn’t come with all the attachments we had hoed for. It comes with a basic blade, chopping disk and emulsifier but no juicing attachment or dough blade which would have been useful. I guess we’ll have to try to purchase these separately.
Overall rating, good but not perfect – not quite up to the quality I would expect from Kenwood. Let’s see if ths lasts 20 years like the last one, if so I’ll take back my criticism.
does the job but………….
Having bought a Chef Major for the big cooking jobs, I needed something smaller for everyday use. I’d previously had a food processor like this one, but years ago. The important things for me were size and weight – great, it fits into my cupboard easily and is very light to take out and put away. Then it had to be easy clean and yet again full marks (just) the machine is much easier than the old one to wipe down as there are less ledges etc. to attract cling-ons and the bowl and liquidiser go in the dishwasher. Note here that the bottom of the bowl does not drain Mr Ken Wood!
In use – it is easy to load, easy to assemble, easy to operate and mixes well. The slicing blade is a bit flimsier that the old ones and yes, previously there were two sizes, this time there was only one. It tried to bend when treated to grating hard parmesan cheese. Luckily for me I still have the old blades (a bit of a hoarder I suppose) which I will use in preference.
The last star was dropped of my rating because of the noise – for some reason all domestic machines seem to be noisy, but this one takes the cake!
I have not bought a food processor for a long time, so spent a while reading the reviews before deciding on this one, and I am not disappointed. It is very light to move around, and very efficient. It has adjustable speed control, which at this price is a bonus.
I chose this Kenwood food processor as by the time I had paid delivery on a cheaper processor it was the same price as the Kenwood. I have since seen nearly the same model in a supermarket a little bit cheaper in white, but very superficially I wanted silver as it is out on the work top. I unpacked the product and it was clear how it fitted together without having to intensively read the instructions, it also looks really good on the counter – I have had comments from friends! I have not used a food processor before but have watched many an episode of Jamie Oliver so thought I would manage it – everything locks together really nicely and the dial is really simple to use it’s pretty powerful despite not being excessively costly and has made light work or everything I have put in, there are also handy suckers that stick well so it doesn’t travel around. It also cleaned very easily even when I made hummus which sticks to everything usually!
All in all good product, looks great and feels more expensive than it was to be honest!
Great ……… now what do I do with all this time on my hands
So far it’s saved me several hours in the kitchen (chops onion, celery and peppers well), makes great crumble mix and cakes and saved a batch of soup that went wrong (still don’t know why it went wrong have been making it to the same receipt for years) thanks to the blender. Oh and loads of other things I’ve used it for ……… but still playing so lots to try still. One thing I did love it that its so easy to clean. Last processer seemed to have lots of ‘nooks and crannies’ that you could never get the soap bubbles or water out of – this one is easy to wash and dry
Compact and Efficient
It’s easy to use – the enclosed instructions are very clear. It’s well made and sturdy…..and really quite attractive, so can sit happily on my kitchen workspace. No more fumbling in the back of the cupboards for gadgets that so easily get forgotten. The recipes in the enclosed leaflet are excellent – I’ve tried them all and I’ve only had it a week!
Another bonus is that it’s very easy to clean, so all in all I think I’ve made a successful purchase.
Would give five stars but haven’t used it enough yet!
I have tried the machine a couple of times now and I can’t fault anything. It’s very easy to use and does its job the way it should and how I expected it.
The packaging was appropriate and although all the pieces might be a bit confusing at first, a glance at the (very concise) accompanying manual will solve this.
All materials feel solid and seem of good quality.
Point on the side: It would have been great if the grating plate would come with some form of bag or all the pieces would come with a storage unit which can be kept in a kitchen cupboard.
Wonder how I managed without it!
This is an excellent machine for the price. Have used it to make several batches of soup and also for pastry. It slices and grates in seconds and is easy to clean. would recommend.
