Spanish News | Barcelona Grand Prix

The Spanish Grand Prix begins this weekend in Barcelona on the Costa Brava . Since 2008 the Spanish Grand Prix has been held in Valencia on the Costa Azahar ,  but from this year it is set to alternate between the two cities .

There is interest across the world in this event and millions will have their eyes on the track at Barcelona , comparing it with so many others around the world . Naturally Spanish spectators will have their eyes focused on Fernando Alonso in his Ferrari . He is in fourth place in the table at the moment with 47 points .Sebastian Vettell is in first place driving for Red Bull .

Alonso last took the title in 2005 and 2006 but he is regularly amongst the top drivers and regularly on the podium . He will draw in Spaniards from all over Spain and the event is expected to raise 120 million euros for Cataluña . Every type of business in the region will gain from the event , from top hotels to tiny bars .

There are 18 races in the Grand Prix calendar and last year Spain was judged in 12th position , using a variety of criteria to make the judgement .The most popular was the Monaco Grand Prix .
